Daring Off implementation in the country NDOS experienced that such large-scale programmes, deal ing with crores of people, needed rural management profemieruls with skill sets to manage comples rural environments. This led to the birth of an institution 1965namely the Institute of Pural Management Anand (IRMA) that was established with a vision vision of of pro pro moting sustainable, ecologically friendly, and equi table socio-economic development of rural peuple through professional management.

IRMA was established in 1979 with financial and tech nical support from NDDB, the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), the Government of India, the erstwhile Indian Dairy Corporation, and the Government of Gujarat, which provided land.
IRMA has now become a premier institution dedicat end to cooperative and rural management. It is a matter of great pride pride that IRMA is now set to achieve a hästoric milestone with the establishment of Tribiswan Sahkari University (TSU) at its campus in Anand, Gujarat rightily chosen as the p the place for Indus fint cooperation university.
IRMA is all set to expand its legacy with the estab ldment of TSL The university has been aptly named after Tribhuvandas Putel ji who started the cooper ative movement in the dairy sector.
Since then, dairy cooperatives have been the shin ing example of the most successful cooperative model for any agricultural commodity in the country: The sacorm of dairy cooperatives has inspired the spirit of cooperation in many ocher sectors.
The unisque and remarkable idea of a dedicated operative university was first proposed by Shri Amit Shah ji, the find Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, to honour Tribhuwandas Patel’s contributions to Indtés cooperative movement and to create a world-dan institution that fosters research, policy formulation, and leadership development in the cooperative sec tun. This university will be one of its kind and Indian first dedicated cooperative institution for higher cation. The TSU will leverage IRMA 40 years of spertise in rural and cooperative management.
The TSU will help strengthen the rural economy develop the cosystem of self-employmen and small entopreneurship, increase social nusins, and rease opportunities to set new standards in inne increase opportunities to set vation and research.
It will inqurt technical education and management training in the cooperative sector, promote cooper ative research and development; development, attain standards of India global excellence and strengthen the cooperative movement in the country through a network of institutions.
The THU will be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 as a body corporate and will be declared an institution of national importance à will have the capacity to provide education to abesut 8 lakh candidates every year.
The colleges affiliated with the university will be opened across the country. IRMA will function as an autonosas schood under TSU and FIRST Column will he declared a contre of excellence for rural man-agentit. As a result, there will be an infusion of new blond into the cooperative marvement with young, dynamic professionals graduating from TMU hada will get a new cooperative leaderspired by the spirit of cooperation and equipped with modern education.
The establishment of an exclusive national univer sity for cooperatives will early prove to be a land mark initiative and will go a long way in grooming папронет темнrces aligned to the needs of the sec toe Tribhuvan Sahkari. University will not jut be another academic institutionfat a movement to ensure that India’s cooperative secur cooperative sector groes further by kraps and bounds.
